Naphtali Music Joins the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ORMTA)

About the ORMTA
As the title says, Naphtali Music has officially joined the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA). ORMTA is a not-for-profit organization that aims to instill a lifelong love of music in communities across Ontario. They do this by hosting regional boards that provide tools and support for music teachers in the regions where they are based.
What joining ORMTA means for the student
Several current and prospective students have already asked me whether lessons with Naphtali Music come with opportunities to perform in a recital. Naphtali Music was initially looking into hosting its own recitals in Ancaster. While this remains unchanged, ORMTA also hosts several recitals throughout the year. There, students can interact with fellow music lovers and use these recitals to experience the feeling of performing in front of an audience even more.
In addition, the Hamilton-Halton branch hosts competitions for the three tiers: beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. This is an excellent place for students to see where their musicianship stands and receive feedback from adjudicators on how they can improve further. If students are really eager, the winners of this competition also move on to the Southern Zone competition for a chance to compete in provincials.
What joining ORMTA means for Naphtali Music
At Naphtali Music, I see ORMTA as a major opportunity to further develop my teaching skills for both piano and violin. Being able to play as a concert-level soloist is a major plus, but I want to transfer my experiences in a way that my students can understand. ORMTA's extensive teaching resources, along with additional benefits that help with operating Naphtali Music, compelled me to sign up for the membership. Many of these benefits will translate into teaching that helps students learn techniques faster and fosters a love of music even further, from classical to pop.
